What to Wear and How to Pack for Shenzhen?
The city has it all from branded pieces to street styles. You just have to find what fits you and is in sync with the weather, too. Here are some suggestions:
Women – The city is pretty casual and chic at the same time, but still stay away from wearing extra-short skirts or revealing dresses. Summers here are scorching, so knee-length cotton shorts along with half-sleeve tops or T-shirts would be fine. You can also go for long flowy skirts or khaki pants with T-shirts and blouses. Sundresses are perfect for summer and spring season, but if the temperature drops down a little, you might want to cover up with a light shawl or jacket. It is never too cold, so leave the coats behind; instead, go for cardigans and jackets and skinny jeans and full-sleeve tops in winters. It often gets windy, so get a windbreaker, too.
Men – Shorts and T-shirts are perfect summer attire. As it is going to be way too hot, stay away from synthetic fibers and opt only for breathable fabrics that can also be drenched easily. Full-sleeve shirts along with linen or khaki pants are also fine. For spring and autumn season, you should pack a light jacket and a windbreaker along with jeans and shirts. Winters will also need a heavier jacket and some woolen sweaters.
Kids – For spring and autumn, just pack trousers or jeans along with full-sleeve t-shirts and tops. You can go for shorts and skirts, too. Bermuda shorts will also be good and the same goes for capris too. Girls can opt for jumpsuits, which can be layered with shrugs and cardigans in the evenings while boys can go for casual jackets. Shirts and trousers along with some heavy woolen and jackets would be required for winters while girls can opt for tunics and woolen slacks along with heavyweight jackets. Also carry windbreakers for all seasons.
Footwear – Bringing comfortable shoes is as important as packing the right shoes. At least one pair of good and comfortable walking shoes is must. And, if you are a little fashion conscious, you can go for ankle booties which can be worn with leggings and jeans or flat ballets which will go with everything. Men can go for sandals and loafers.
Accessories – Do bring a nice bag and a backpack. Beware of pickpockets and keep your important stuff in your wallet and not in the backpack. You can carry hats and don’t forget an umbrella.
