What to Wear and How to Pack for Los Angeles in September?
The mild weather of September offers plenty of flexibility for people to experiment with various styles of clothing. Anything goes here, from casual to ultra glam. Here are some suggestions for you:
Women – For the casual look, go for tank-tops and loose shirts along with shorts and skirts. Jeans and tops will work perfectly well. A bikini or one-piece for the beach would be required, but make sure you carry a sarong to help you cover up while walking out of the beach and wandering into restaurants and shops. Cocktail gowns will be needed for formal outing, and for nightclubs, you can opt for short or miniskirts and tank-tops or short dresses.
Men – You can bring vests and lightweight cotton button-down shirts to wear over vests. Jeans, shorts and pants will work perfectly well for walking around the city. For the beach, carry a pair of tanks or shorts along with a loose cotton shirt. For more formal events, you will need your three piece suit (anything less and you will feel underdressed).
Kids – Shorts, skirts and jeans along with tanks-tops will work for girls. Boys can go for shorts, jeans and pants along with lightweight shirts and t-shirts. Carry a light jacket for evenings.
Footwear – Flip-flops or sandals would be required for the beach. For walking around the city, you can pack flat shoes, trainers, and sneakers as they will be easy on your feet. You can also pack lightweight hiking boots if you plan to explore Griffith Park. And for the formal events – heels for ladies and leather/oxford shoes for men.
Accessories — Do bring a few pieces of jewelry like necklaces and bracelets and nothing more. Scarves work very well with almost every outfit and will keep you warm during cold evenings.
