If you have a gay coworker or neighbor, then you must give him a bag made in Florence. Make sure you have his phone number before you leave for Italy and call him when you are at the bag store and let him pick his own gift. Also, let him pick your bag. Travel Checklist

Nobody knows more about globe-trotting than the National Geographic Society, which has been around us since 1888. If you are not currently a 21 Century Fox (FOX, FOXA) shareholder then you should buy a few shares each month. They will pay you at least $100 each month assuming you hold at least 4,800 shares which should be more than enough to pay for your satellite or cable bill.

Sadly, the National Geographic Channel barely reaches 73.95% of the households in the United States of America.

Best places to visit

Places to Visit in Florence

If you are a religious person and you are planning to go to a church in Florence then I strongly suggest you to wear something that covers your knees and shoulders. You can change back after you leave the church. You don’t have to spend the whole day properly dressed.

Keep in mind the most dangerous criminal organization in the entire world after the Sinaloa Cartel is still based in Sicily and they have thousands of soldiers everywhere including Florence. You don’t want to upset anybody there. Almost everybody in Italy is a catholic. A lot of tourists from other religions like to visit magnificent catholic churches. I strongly suggest you to stay away from catholic churches if you are not a catholic yourself.

On the other hand, if you happen to be a catholic then you must visit as many churches as you can if you are in Florence.

There are very few places in the world protected by the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Only 1,007 to be exact and Italy has many of them.

If you are a millionaire then you should make an effort to visit all these places before you die. On the other hand, if you are not a millionaire then you should hire someone like me to invest your money wisely in many stock markets all over the world including but not limited to the Borsa Italiana.

The cathedral complex, located in Piazza del Duomo, includes the Baptistery and Giotto’s Campanile. The three buildings are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Piazza del Duomo

This beautiful place is one of the most visited in Europe if not the whole world.

The main attraction is the Santa Maria del Fiore Catedral, which is the fourth largest in Europe by size.

If you like art and you want to enjoy the great masters like Michelangelo, Donatello, Lorenzo Ghiberti, Luca della Robbia, Arnolfo di Cambio and many more then you must visit the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo.

The Baptistery of St. John

The Baptistery of St. John is one of the oldest buildings in the entire city. It is almost a thousand years old.

The Italian poet Dante was baptized in this baptistery.

If you have a Catholic wife and you want to make her happy then all you need to do is baptize your baby right here. I don’t mean in the Baptistery of St. John. That is impossible. I mean in another catholic church as close as possible to this location.

Giotto’s Campanile

Giotto was a painter and an architect and he is one of the great artists who contributed to the Renaissance.

There is a very useful article by Whitney Richelle called 10 Reasons Americans Have a Bad Reputation in Florence (and Abroad) that you should definitely read before you go to Florence or anywhere else in the world.

Don’t forget to visit the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum.

Salvatore Ferragamo was born in Italy but he emigrated to Boston in 1914 and eventually moved to Hollywood, where he made shoes for every celebrity for thirteen years. He moved to Florence and spent the rest of his life dressing the most powerful men and women in the world including but not limited to Eva Perón and Marilyn Monroe.

I still remember the first time I bought a pair of used Salvatore Ferragamo shoes. I spend several weeks trying to buy them on eBay but a lot of people wanted them and they always offered a lot of money.

I could not afford a new pair of Salvatore Ferragamo shoes at the time. They were and they still are extremely expensive. This was many years ago. Eventually I won an auction for just a few dollars and the day the shoes finally arrived was a good day for me. The shoes were almost new. Probably a millionaire used them once or twice and then his personal assistant sold them on eBay to make enough room for the new ones.

There are only 7 Salvatore Ferragamo stores in my country and one of these days I am going to open at least 25 more but that is a topic for another day.

Don’t drink beer, Jack Daniel’s or Beefeater

You can get all these fine beverages at home. If you are in Florence then you need to drink wine. If you don’t know anything about wine then I strongly suggest you to watch the film Bottle Shock starring Golden Globe winner Alan Rickman before you go to Europe.

This blog post is not brought to you by IBM. I just think this ad is funny and you should enjoy it. They are already making more money than Google and they don’t need to advertise anymore. They have this thing called Watson.

I hope this article can help you to decide what to pack.
