If you want the best that New York City has to offer for nightlife, check out the rooftop bars because this is a great way to find new friends and socialize while looking out over the city. Many of the rooftop bars offer food and live music and generally the crowd is within the age range of 18-35 although some of the bars cater to older patrons. Some of the bars have a cover charge while others do not, and there are the bars that only serve those under 21 while others let people in who are at least 18 years old.

Rooftop bars are a standard part of life in New York City and each borough has a variety of bars to choose from. Because these bars are located inside of hotels or near well known landmarks in the city, you do not have to drive there and you can get on the subway to head to the bars. Practice safety when at the bars and if think you will not be sober, bring a sober person with you to bring you back to your hotel and have adequate cash for a cab.
